8-week evening course introducing the basics of horticulture.

Start learning more about horticulture, just in time for Spring!

Informal, friendly and practical course; classroom-based with demonstrations and plenty of actual plants to illustrate the themes of each lesson.

Garden Design for Beginners
Garden design. What is it? How do they do it? This mini-course offers students the opportunity to think about gardens from a planning or design perspective. It aims to demystify the art and language of garden design as well as offering a few practical techniques for planning outside spaces.

Course held on two consecutive Saturdays in our Herne Hill classroom with a maximum of 12 students.

Making the Most of Your Garden
Do you have a garden? An outside space? A windowsill? Come and develop your understanding of it, what is already there and how it can be enhanced. Fruit & Vegetable Growing basics
Wherever you are growing your fruit and vegetables, whether that's in your garden or vegetable plot, or in containers on your balcony, there's always a lot to do for the the urban food grower.

This practical workshop will start by looking at some general food-growing basics with an emphasis on 'low-maintenance' food growing. Students will then be taken through some seasonal practical tasks. We'll also look at how to compost and make your own growing mediums, and at how to use renewable, recyclable resources and organic practices. If weather and time allow there will also be a tour of a low-maintenance allotment plot and we'll discuss some of the traditional and less-traditional methods people use when growing fruit and vegetables.

Christmas wreath-making workshops 2026A seasonal workshop to end the term with! Christmas Wreath-making using seasonal foliage and berries including some from your own garden if you wish.

Learn how to construct a wreath from scratch and decorate with a selection of seasonal foliage & berries, gathered for you on the farm. You can make your design really personal by bringing along some of your own foliage too if you wish.

You will leave with your own beautiful wreath to hang on your door which will last you well into the New Year.
